Search engine optimizations of web shops

There are some methods we need to follow for a good online shop optimization for Bing and Google. It’s definitely not easy to be an affiliate shop, nor a producer one, especially without any marketing investment cashed in advance.

So, how do we make a one-person online shop with affiliated products and how to make a small investment worth of time to potentially make some money out of it?

It’s not easy – that we all know and I am sure each promoter or affiliate marketer would have his own theory.

First, you would need the actual website that will offer the products. You can consult a free one (Joomla!) or a paid one (VIB Solutions), including a template design that would be easy to implement.

Before the website is ready, make sure you or your development company follows the following rules:
- Each product/category to be on a different page.
- Offer at least 20 products and at least 5 categories.
- Make intermediate pages which combine related products and most bought (even manipulated).
- Make news section and a blog. People have to see that this website is up to date.
- Use PayPal instead of any other options offered by the developed website. People seem to trust them the most as they can get their money back if there is a problem.

After the website is ready, the optimization starts with homepage, then each page’s title, descriptive text and content. The actual optimization, I will try to explain in my next article as it’s very specific.

Do you want to make-calls for free?

The newest uprising web-service that is available on the network for free is called make-calls.com. This service allows people to make free calls worldwide to land-line phones.

It seems that Google is also working on something similar and I definitely want to see their product. In meantime, if you want to call you mother or grand-mother, just follow this link: make-calls.com

You might be listening to some ads before the actual call is made, but that’s normal as the providers have to feed themselves with something as well.

There’s no installation of a program as this software is using flash, which will eventually make your browser prompt if you would like to use your microphone, where you’d need to choose yes, so that people hear you from the other side.

The company is offering an advertising possibility for companies that are interested to put voice-ads on it. It’s quite popular already, so discard my blog post if you’ve already seen it!

Do you know any other website offering the same service?

Writing for the web

Tips and techniques people should know before writing for the web.

The content quality is almost everything you would need to respect, although web-writing talent may appear after following these procedures:

- Personal messages – direct people as much as possible
- Write useful information, not just something to fill in your pages.
- Make your visitors understand what they can find on your website.
- Write casual - applied to those organizations with official content and press releases.
- Specific and direct messages. Write as less as possible with as much as possible sense.
- If you write in English, then don’t use complex words, as most Europeans and Asians won’t be able to understand, therefore they will move away.

Headline separately your sentences. Don’t start with paragraph, but a statement to a paragraph. Always put short messages more visible than long texts. Try to use italic for comments on things, or more personal messages. Use bullets for important messages people should remember. And don’t forget to use pictures where relevant.

The keywords in the title are the most important for SEO?

The keywords in the title are the most important thing for Google and Bing. Lately, it was explained from Microsoft that they have patented a new algorithm for searching and ranking websites, which ranks sites according to their relevance in the domain name. That’s not new, but they explain it very deeply and they mention how the relevance to a keyword in a URL actually works.

Bing has 4 levels of results matching: 0, 1, 2 and “no match”. Basically the algorithm of Bing explains the URL importance with the following example: If the searched word or phrase is made up of 2 words “cool design”, then the website http://www.vibsolutions.com/cool/ contains the word “cool” once and the domain name does not contain the word “cool” at all. The same for the word “design”. If the phrase that’s searched in Bing is “cool websites”, then the mark would be 0 or 1. The best working scenario would be “http://cool-design.com/cool/design/” which will be marked with the best mark 2.

Obviously, Bing took the place next to Google, although it’s too early to talk for competition, as it’s very difficult to keep up with Google in tools, online systems and desktop programs.
