Applying for higher Google ranking?

Little internet investment makes the ranking increase rapidly. Based on a research made by VIB Solutions on “what’s the best way to optimize my website”, Anita Cavero (Project Manager in VIB Solutions) explained how to get the maximum page rank with a minimum investment.

“It’s all about how much time you spent on your website”, Anita says. The thing is that most companies that want to have a better page rank, should stay more in front of their websites, or pay somebody to do so.

How to make? Arm 3 journalists with PC and some website materials – from where to intervene and after some time, the result will be there.

A specific example: bnew.bg. A former journalist Mr. Barekov was able to invest some time and money into a so called “Internet news agency” and Google blessed him with 5/10 page rank after the second month. It seems not so difficult, although there are some inter and outer linking that has to be done for better results and let’s not forget that they are making it professionally with a lot of resources.

A simpler solution hitting almost the same results would be employing part-time a contingent of 3 people that with a specific range of websites to feed from, would bring their journalistic thematic online to the public which will cause your website go higher in the Google results. After some time, when other media start linking to you – your page rank will also increase.

In case you have that € 300 - € 500 to spend on monthly basis and you prefer VIB Solutions to organize the traffic to you and your website, please contact us.

Web-form optimization

The best way to optimize a form is to have 3 fields: email, name and phone number. According to a research made by VIB Solutions on “what’s the best way to optimize my website”, the best would be to use as less as possible fields when optimizing your contact form or user-login form.

The research outcome is: The more fields we put on a page and the more complicated the form is, the more people navigate out of it. People don’t like big forms and they don’t like where there’s a lot of text to read. If you need to explain a field, try to do with 1 sentence and put a link ‘read more’.

Here are some good advices to form-makers or website owners:

- Put as less as possible fields.
- Don’t use alerts for mistakes or form-validations, but use jQuery dialog-boxes. People don’t like alerts.
- Make sure your back button works on 100%. If people want to edit their information, they will use the back button on their browser and not the edit button on your page. It’s a habit.
- Try to keep links out of the form and the text. Use a “related link” box or put them out of the page. People get annoyed when there’s a lot of blue links which destructs their attention.

Web shop optimization - part II

In my previous article there were some specific advices of how to better present your web shop to the public. In this topic I will mainly focus on how to make the people trust you and your website?

There is a lot written about optimization of web shops and I am particularly interested in its development.

This Wednesday I attended the Webinar with Gerry McGovern, who gave very interesting theories of how to manage your content and how to make people trust you. I personally believe he is right about everything he said.

To make people trust you and buy from you:
- Think about your content and simplify it as much as possible.
- Reduce the fields on your forms with at least 60%.
- Make proper Terms & Conditions pages; contact us, about us, etc.
- Don’t open new windows and make sure the back button of the browser always work.
- Put pdf specifications of the products and make it easy for people to download it. Use high resolution photos of the product – people like to explore the product as much as possible before they buy it.
- Put a big attention on the search dialog box.

Think like your customers. Show them what they need to see and not what you want to show them. Your potential customers may not buy from their first visit, but if they come back because of the good impression that your website gave, they will.

Try to answer the following question: Do my visitors see what I want to show them?

Search engine optimizations of web shops

There are some methods we need to follow for a good online shop optimization for Bing and Google. It’s definitely not easy to be an affiliate shop, nor a producer one, especially without any marketing investment cashed in advance.

So, how do we make a one-person online shop with affiliated products and how to make a small investment worth of time to potentially make some money out of it?

It’s not easy – that we all know and I am sure each promoter or affiliate marketer would have his own theory.

First, you would need the actual website that will offer the products. You can consult a free one (Joomla!) or a paid one (VIB Solutions), including a template design that would be easy to implement.

Before the website is ready, make sure you or your development company follows the following rules:
- Each product/category to be on a different page.
- Offer at least 20 products and at least 5 categories.
- Make intermediate pages which combine related products and most bought (even manipulated).
- Make news section and a blog. People have to see that this website is up to date.
- Use PayPal instead of any other options offered by the developed website. People seem to trust them the most as they can get their money back if there is a problem.

After the website is ready, the optimization starts with homepage, then each page’s title, descriptive text and content. The actual optimization, I will try to explain in my next article as it’s very specific.

Do you want to make-calls for free?

The newest uprising web-service that is available on the network for free is called make-calls.com. This service allows people to make free calls worldwide to land-line phones.

It seems that Google is also working on something similar and I definitely want to see their product. In meantime, if you want to call you mother or grand-mother, just follow this link: make-calls.com

You might be listening to some ads before the actual call is made, but that’s normal as the providers have to feed themselves with something as well.

There’s no installation of a program as this software is using flash, which will eventually make your browser prompt if you would like to use your microphone, where you’d need to choose yes, so that people hear you from the other side.

The company is offering an advertising possibility for companies that are interested to put voice-ads on it. It’s quite popular already, so discard my blog post if you’ve already seen it!

Do you know any other website offering the same service?
